Es muy común escuchar o encontrar información de los principales productos de exportación de México, o de cualquier otro país. Sin embargo, el día de hoy hablaremos del Comercio Internacional de servicios; es decir, de lo no tangible que intercambian las naciones.

 

Recordemos que el Comercio Internacional es el intercambio de productos o servicios que de se da entre distintos países, y en esta entrada vamos a ahondar más en los segundos.

 

¿Qué es el comercio de servicios?

 

El en campo de la Economía, un servicio se define como un conjunto de actividades que buscan satisfacer las necesidades de un cliente. Es decir, no se refiere a un producto tangible como tal.

 

Ahora bien, algunas de estas actividades pueden ser las relacionadas con:

 

Turismo

Estética

Consultoría

Publicidad

Educación

Servicios profesionales

Comunicación

 

Entre otros que, como los mencionados, poseen características específicas como:

Intangibilidad

Es decir, no se pueden sentir físicamente. Los servicios no son objetos, más bien son resultados de un cierto proceso; además, no hay forma de mostrarle a tu cliente una idea previa, ni enviarle una muestra.

Inseparabilidad

Un servicio se produce y se consume al mismo tiempo. Esto genera que la interacción entre el cliente y la empresa sea un evento crítico.

Heterogeneidad

A diferencia de los productos, un servicio no se puede prestar exactamente igual dos veces. Al hablar de actividades, hablamos de experiencias, y una experiencia siempre es única.

Caducidad

Los servicios no pueden almacenarse en un inventario, esperando que los clientes aparezcan.

Ya que estamos es contexto de qué es un servicio y en qué consiste, es momento de trasladarlo al panorama del Comercio Internacional.

 

Existen algunas características, aún más específicas, que definen a esta rama de los negocios internacionales. Por ejemplo:

 

El lugar desde donde se preste el servicio suele suponer diferencias importantes en aspectos legales y fiscales. Por ello, es importante definir bien si se hará la negociación en el país del prestador de servicios, o en el del cliente.

También es importante mencionar que para muchos exportadores de servicios, la protección de su propiedad intelectual es un asunto clave.

Por último, se deben considerar aspectos fundamentales como la elección de la moneda de pago y protección frente al riesgo de impago.
